5 Stock Market Investing Books Worth Reading

 1. One Up on Wall Street by Peter Lynch

If you had to read just one book on investing, this would be the one I recommend. Especially if you are new to investing and don’t know where to begin, this book lays out in very simple terms how anyone can succeed in the stock market and receive great returns.

Lynch, a former mutual fund manager for Fidelity, managed to achieve an average annual return of almost 30% for over a decade. For comparison, the stock market only sees a return of around 10% per year. That may not blow you away at first glance, but consider the effect of compounding in the table below:

It teaches you how to have the right mindset, how to pick winning stocks, and what can be achieved if you continue to invest in good companies for the long-term.

2. 100 Baggers by Christopher Mayer

This book is a study of the best performing stocks in recent history. If you want to know what kind of gains are achievable in the world of stocks, this is a must read. I actually stumbled across 100 Baggers while researching

The main takeaway from Laughing at Wall Street is that there is money to be made by catching on to trends earlier than Wall Street.

Also known as Warren Buffet’s bible, The Intelligent Investor is a staple read for any and all stock market enthusiasts.

I must admit that I was actually skeptical of learning anything that could be applied in the modern market environment since the text is decades old.
